First Day of Preschool

The twins started their 3 year old preschool class on September 9 (yesterday).  The kids were VERY excited to go, and this year we are at a new school where we drop them off in a carpool line.  It was so strange.  One minute they were in the car, and the next minute they were gone.  No kisses goodbye, no lingering at the door to watch if they were being good or throwing a block at the teacher's head.  I just gunned it through the parking lot and never looked back!  They were very excited to tell me about all of the fun things and the new friends that they made.  Please enjoy the pics of these big 3.5 year old twin tornadoes below!

Labor Day Fun

Mimi, Grumpy, and Uncle Rhett came for a visit for Labor Day weekend.  We had a great time watching our Longhorns kick off the football season with a WIN, some slipping and sliding in the backyard and making lots of homemade ice cream with Mimi!  Enjoy the pics!

Hook 'em, Linc!
Cheers!

The dogs wanted to play on the slip and slide, too, but daddy wouldn't let them.

Lili wanted a kiss before they went out to play, but Linc was not having any of that!

Lili loved it!

This swimsuit was retired after that day.  It was like we were in Rio.

Linc was a pro!

Independence Day

The Perry Family Celebrated Independence day with some fun in our neighborhood.  In the morning, we went to a parade and a party with lots of fun things for the kids like a train, bouncy slippy things, balloon clowns, face painting, and all the kid stuff you could imagine.  That evening we went to yet another kid friendly neighborhood party at a local shopping center called La Centerra.  There were so many people that the only kid thing we did was get a balloon and a cupcake.  We decided that we would go over where there were less people, which was surprisingly by the band.  Lili, Linc, and Momma danced and danced.  We planned on staying until the fireworks show, but we just couldn't make it.  We were too tired.  Maybe next year!

Momma Runs!

This blog is dedicated mostly to the Twin Tornadoes, but I wanted to update everyone on my running adventures, as they have become more of a staple in the Perry family lately.  I have registered for and begun training for the Houston Marathon which takes place in January 2014.  This spring/summer I trained for a half marathon, which was on June 29.  It turned out to be a complete bust, as it was 95 degrees and I almost had a heat stroke and was just happy to finish, but the training was awesome and super fun.  I did a few races while I trained and I really enjoyed it.  For the marathon, I have joined a group called Katy Fit and am training with the fastest group, called the Blue/Green group.  I am a little nervous about keeping up with them, but I am excited for the challenge.  My running has improved so much while training for this half marathon, I can't imagine what will happen while I train for this full marathon!  I will keep you all updated as to how my first 26.2 miles goes!  Below are pics from some of the races I did in May and June.

Pic from a 5K I did Memorial Day Weekend
Placed 3rd in my age group

5K in June.  I was TIRED at the end of this one.

Trying to beat the guy pushing a stroller!
I PR'd this 5K with a 25:07 time and placed 1st in my age group.  I was very scared of the 3 cameras that were in my face!

The start of the worst half marathon I have ever done!  13.1 miles in 95 degree heat!  BAD idea!

This is Brett.  We ran together the first half, until I almost fell over and died from the heat and dehydration. I drank at least 3 waters at every water stop and finished my entire water belt by the first half.

This picture was well into the race.  Mile 8 or so.  I had to run and pretend that I wasn't dying so I might have a chance of looking cute in the pic.  That took  A LOT of energy.
This is right before I finished.  I was high-fiving my friend (and Brett's wife), Lindsey and SO thankful this race was OVER!

With Brett and Katy who weren't too happy about the race either.  We all survived and will live to run another race.  My next half marathon is in October and I WILL redeem myself!!!!
