Momma Runs!

This blog is dedicated mostly to the Twin Tornadoes, but I wanted to update everyone on my running adventures, as they have become more of a staple in the Perry family lately.  I have registered for and begun training for the Houston Marathon which takes place in January 2014.  This spring/summer I trained for a half marathon, which was on June 29.  It turned out to be a complete bust, as it was 95 degrees and I almost had a heat stroke and was just happy to finish, but the training was awesome and super fun.  I did a few races while I trained and I really enjoyed it.  For the marathon, I have joined a group called Katy Fit and am training with the fastest group, called the Blue/Green group.  I am a little nervous about keeping up with them, but I am excited for the challenge.  My running has improved so much while training for this half marathon, I can't imagine what will happen while I train for this full marathon!  I will keep you all updated as to how my first 26.2 miles goes!  Below are pics from some of the races I did in May and June.

Pic from a 5K I did Memorial Day Weekend
Placed 3rd in my age group

5K in June.  I was TIRED at the end of this one.

Trying to beat the guy pushing a stroller!
I PR'd this 5K with a 25:07 time and placed 1st in my age group.  I was very scared of the 3 cameras that were in my face!

The start of the worst half marathon I have ever done!  13.1 miles in 95 degree heat!  BAD idea!

This is Brett.  We ran together the first half, until I almost fell over and died from the heat and dehydration. I drank at least 3 waters at every water stop and finished my entire water belt by the first half.

This picture was well into the race.  Mile 8 or so.  I had to run and pretend that I wasn't dying so I might have a chance of looking cute in the pic.  That took  A LOT of energy.
This is right before I finished.  I was high-fiving my friend (and Brett's wife), Lindsey and SO thankful this race was OVER!

With Brett and Katy who weren't too happy about the race either.  We all survived and will live to run another race.  My next half marathon is in October and I WILL redeem myself!!!!
